The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development, (#cehrd) engaged Environmental Protection Volunteers/Vanguards of Bundu community Rivers State on Tuesday, 5th April, 2022.
The participants planted 100 mangrove seedlings in #CEHRD’s newly established mangrove nursery and another 100 seedlings along the shoreline where degraded mangrove were observed.
The main focus of the activity is to provide shoreline defense against storm and flooding, provide habitat for marine organisms to carry out their breeding activities and ultimately, reduce the impact of climate change on the environment.
CEHRD addressing the vanguards emphasized on the need to plant more mangrove and also highlighted the socio-economic importance of the mangrove ecosystem. Reacting, the participants appreciated #cehrd for choosing them as Environmental Protection Vanguards and pledge to be advocates for the environment.
