CEHRD Upgraded Her Rachel Carson Library

To actualize her goal of becoming a Centre of Excellence for environmental research, human rights advocacy and sustainable green development, The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) has upgraded her Rachel Carson Library which was established in 2015.

The library was established to enhance environmental and human rights knowledge development and promote collaborative research, learning and information sharing amongst scholars, activists, researchers and students across the Niger Delta region and beyond.

The library was established with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria is named after Rachel Carson in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of science and environmentalism.

The library has desktop computers for Internet research, printer, photocopy machine and state-of-the-art paper cover books and e-books on Environmental Management, Earth sciences, Agriculture, Hydrobiology, Urban ecology, Soil ecology, Marine ecology and Political ecology, human rights, green development, etc. The latest upgrade of the library was also courtesy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Abuja, a component of CEHRD’s project, Framework for Inclusive, Economic, Self-reliance and Equal Rights in the Niger Delta.

Use of the library is free of charge and open to all researchers and students from 9am to 4:30pm on Mondays to Fridays.

It is situated at CEHRD’s Secretariat, the Legacy Centre, 6 Abuja Lane, D-line, Port Harcourt.
