CEHRD Organized Project Inception Meeting on Mangrove Restoration Project in Kono Community, Rivers State

Centre For Environment Human Rights And Development – CEHRD on September 26 2025, organized project inception meeting at Kono Community, Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State. The objective is to create public awareness to key stakeholders about the “Accelerating Community-Led Mangrove Restoration Project” implemented by #CEHRD in Kono and Rumuolumini communities in Rivers State.

During the event, the paramount ruler of Kono appreciated CEHRD for the laudable initiative and pledged further support to the success of the project while soliciting that CEHRD should not forget to include mangrove enterpreneurship in their trainings.

CEHRD’s team represented by Meshach Uyi explained the goal, objectives, and prowess of the project staing that the project if achieved will restore lost biodiversity glory of Kono people.

Stakeholders that gave their goodwill messages appreciated CEHRD for their effort to restore mangrove forest in the Niger Delta expectially in Kono community. They advised Kono community members to see the project as theirs, protect it and ensure it is successful.

During the event, CEHRD identified and inaugurated community mangrove vanguard in Kono community.

The project is funded by GEF Small Grants Programme, United Nations Development Programme – UNDP
