The Chief Executive Officer of a United State of America based non-governmental organization, Timmy Global Health, Professor Scot Pegg has commended the Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) over decades of community development, given a vote of confidence to CEHRD’s sustaining project implementation capacity.

Prof Pegg stated this during a meeting with CEHRD’s staff, management and board of directors at CEHRD’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, during his regular working visits to Nursery and Primary schools in Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas in Rivers State, Nigeria, where the organization is implementing a school feeding project supported by TIMMY GLOBAL HEALTH.

The CEO, who is also one of CEHRD’s International Advisory Board members stated that his organization has worked with CEHRD for over twenty years and there has never been any time CEHRD mismanaged funds meant for projects. He recounted that for over twenty years, Timmy Global Health and CEHRD have carried out and are still carrying out Nutrition, Health and Scholarship projects in Nursery and Primary schools in Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas.

Professor Peg revealed that he secured funds through some of his friends in USA and through his organization and partnership with CEHRD as implementing partners, they started providing Deworming medication, Vitamin A supplements, feeding and scholarships to pupils in Bebor Nursery and Primary School, Bodo-City in Gokana Local Government.

He further stated that over the years, the partnership has grown to providing same succour to six schools in both Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas of Rivers State, stating that there have been remarkable improvements in the number of pupils enrolled in the schools inclusive of girls and persons with disabilities.

Prof Scot Pegg disclosed that his vote of confidence on CEHRD has also helped the organization to secure funds from True Costs Initiative, an international funding Agency, for a project entitled “Mitigating Oil Re-pollution in Niger Delta” implemented in Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State and Ogbia and Yenegoa Local Government Areas in Bayelsa State, at a period the Agency was skeptical of sending money to any Nigerian non-profit organization due to the country’s perceived negative image branding.

Professor Pegg advised CEHRD to maintain its track records of transparency and accountability in handling any fund from any Donor organization meant for project implementation noting that the more sincere an organization is in accurately delivering donor’s approved projects, the grater the chances for the NGO to secure more funds from more donors.
