CEHRD Organized a Rally To Sensitize Community Members On The Dangers Of Oil Re-pollution In Ogbia Local Government Area, Rivers State

The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) on Monday, 16th June, 2025 organized a rally to sensitize communities in Ogbia Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria on the effects of oil re-pollution.

The rally was aimed to create awareness on the disadvantages and dangers of re-polluting the environment. Community members made up of women, men, and youths who came out in their numbers expressed gratitude to CEHRD and True Costs Initiative for organizing the event.

In an interview at the sideline of the event, Imiringhi Community Youth Leader, Mr. Ranami Afagha who commended CEHRD for working with the locals stated that the match was to discourage the destruction of oil installations and also to speak against all forms of oil re-pollution in the Local Government Area.

Mr. Afagha stating some of the effects of oil re-pollution revealed that re-pollution affects the life of the people, economy, environment, biodiversity and so any effort to fight against oil re-pollution is a welcome idea.

While expressing his joy, the youth leader appreciated True Costs Initiative for sponsoring CEHRD to carry out the fight against oil re-pollution.

The rally is part of activities on the project, “Mitigating Oil Re-pollution in Niger Delta” implemented by CEHRD, sponsored by True Costs Initiative
