The Centre For Environment Human Rights And Development – CEHRD on August 20, 2025, paid a visit to Kono community in Khana Local Government to seek for the buy-in of the Traditional rulers and the entire community towards the implementation of the GEF Small Grants Programme, United Nations Development Programme – UNDP sponsored project.
The visit paved way for a better understanding of the project, cleared all perceptions and further strengthened community support towards the success of the project.

Kono Community had earlier believed the project was an affiliation to HYPREP’s promised Mangrove Restoration project to Kono community but CEHRD’s team cleared the notion by educating the community that the project was a stand alone, impleneted by CEHRD and funded by GEF-SGP UNDP.
With the clarity, and having seen the benefits of the project to their community, CEHRD recorded her first outcome: Kono community committed to ensure the success of the project, pledged to provide necessary support; while requesting CEHRD to include “Mangrove Entrepreneurship” as part of its training modules.

The request highlights the acceptance of CEHRD’s “Accelarating Community-Led Mangrove Restoration” project by Kono community and CEHRD is committed to obliged their request.
