The Centre for Environment Human rights and Development, #CEHRD with other stakeholders have called on Civil Society Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and the Government to embrace community engagement, education and advocacy in fostering sustainable and resilient communities in the bid to achieve climate justice in Nigeria.
The call was made in a critical conversations meeting on the issue of climate justice in Nigeria organized by Greenpeace Africa between 6-7th May 2025 at Bolton white hotels, Abuja, Nigeria.
Speaking in the event, CEHRD through the head of Environment and Conservation, Dr. Tammy Cookey clamoured for a cleaner environment while highlighting CEHRD’s efforts towards achieving climate justice in Nigeria, most especially on it’s mangrove restoration project in the past in restoring livelihood across communities in the once oil impacted communities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

Highpoint of the event was the signing of the Nigeria climate justice movement Declaration and the nomination of CEHRD into the steering committee of the climate justice movement in Nigeria which is to be anchored by Green peace Africa.
With this CEHRD will be involved with other stakeholders in building collective power to amplify voices in a strategic, effective and responsive way and achieve meaningful change at scale across the continent
