The Centre for Environment Human Rights and Development ( CEHRD ) participated in a-two-day United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) GEF-SGP Inception workshop for Operation-7 Grantees in Lagos held between 10th-13th June 2025, The project which was borne out of CEHRDs project ACCELERATING COMMUNITY LED MANGROVE RESTORATION IN IWOFE AND KONO was meant to highlight grantees on how to ensure that the implementation of their project was sustainable.
The National coordinator of the GEF-SGP, Mrs. Runke Olubamise congratulated all beneficiaries and implored them that as custodians of the community resources, they should carry out an all inclusive project that will bring a lasting impact in their respective communities.

In an interview with #CEHRD’s Communications Unit on the benefit of the workshop, Head of Department, Environment and Conservation, Dr. Tammy Cookey stated that the workshop is to help grantees gain deeper understanding of GEF’s report writing style during project implementation.
Dr. Cookey further stated that CEHRD will commence its project implementation in July and according to the head of department, “it is expected that at the end of project implementation, beneficiary communities’ livelihoods will be enhanced.

CEHRD over the years have impacted several rural communities in the Niger Delta which has impacted on the livelihood of the communities. The project on ACCELERATING COMMUNITY LED MANGROVE RESTORATION IN IWOFE AND KONO will be another milestone to enhance the livelihoods of targeted communities and the society at large.
