CEHRD Set Up an Independent Community Media Hub in Port Harcourt

An Independent Community Media Hub was set up by CEHRD. This community hub is providing ICMAP citizens journalist the independent space to develop their own content, policy focus strategies, and target groups for inclusive development under the ICMAP project. The independent media hub has also continued the mentoring of trained ICMAP participants on content development strategies. Individual groups were saddled with the responsibility of the continuation of data collection, researching, consulting and interacting with relevant stakeholders and key government agencies. These interactions are focused on environmental, health, security, WASH and educational challenges facing rural and urban communities across the target states.

Communities and participants under the ICMAP project now have the human capacity and technical know-how needed to increase community voice. Following the commencement of the clean-up of crude oil impacted farms and creeks in Bodo community, Gokana LGA, Citizen Journalists commenced the documentation of the environmental restoration process, while also sending across update pictures to the key environmental agencies and CSO organizations for monitoring and review.
