Community Priority Needs, Governance and Development in the Niger Delta

The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) held a one day interactive meeting on Wednesday 11th December 2019 in Port Harcourt, focusing on Community Priority Needs, Governance and Development in the Niger Delta.  Participants were drawn from community leaders, media, community based organisations, civil society organisation and the academia.

The discussions enriched the draft Community Needs Assessment Research report which will be published and used as an advocacy document to engage the government of Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom from 2020. The community Parliamentary Committees formed and trained in the 3 target states will drive the advocacy process.  This activity was organised with support from National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
