ICMAP Advocacy Visits to Relevant Stakeholders

Advocacy visits to government agencies were facilitated and implemented by CEHRD in collaboration with the citizen journalists, Justice Empowerment Initiative, and the Nigerian Slum Federation. The visits were geared towards facilitating inclusive dialogue between the government and the waterfront communities with a view to developing partnerships aimed at addressing these identified challenges holistically.

Key stakeholders visited were Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Port Harcourt Water Corporation (PHWC) Urban Water Reform and Port, Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, National Oil Spill Response and Detection Agency, Rivers state Ministry of Health, Women and Gender group in Rivers State, Port Harcourt Water Supply Sanitation Project, funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB)

The ICMAP team demanded that their communities be included in the daily waste removal scheme currently put in place by the Rivers State Government. They also demanded to be included in the water distribution scheme of the PHWC, in the Urban Water Reform and Port Harcourt Water Supply Sanitation Project, funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB).
