CEHRD Trains Community Vanguards In Yenegoa LGA, Bayelsa State

The Centre For Environment Human Rights And Development – CEHRD to sustain the advocacy to mitigate oil re-pollution, trained 25 community Vanguards in Yenegoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.on “Mitigating Oil Re-pollution in Niger Delta”

The training that was held at Ikarama Community aimed to discourage oil re-pollution in Yenegoa LGA and Niger Delta at Large.

The community vanguards gained knowledge on what oil re-pollution is, The Causes and Sources of Oil Re-pollution, Environmental and Health Impact of Oil Re-pollution and Social Cultural and Economic Impact of Oil Re-pollution.

They also gained knowledge on the Roles Community Members should play in Advocating Towards Oil Re-pollution, Tools and Strategies for Community Sensitization and The Need for Alternative Livelihoods.

The community vanguards appreciated CEHRD for the training committed to join the fight against oil Re-pollution in their various communities. They revealed that most of the Oil spill that occur are not caused by them but unfortunately, they are been accused of the undoing.

They resolved that with the help of CEHRD, they will ensure that they reveal the cause of the oil re-pollution and also enhance advocacy to reducing it.

The training is part of activities on the Mitigating Oil Re-pollution project implemented by CEHRD with support from True Costs Initiative
