The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) has organized has planted 1500 propagules in Rumuorlumeni community, Port Harcourt Local Government Area, Rivers State as a bid to restore mangrove in Niger Delta.
The session gave community members first hand demonstration platform, enhance their knowledge in planting and nursing Mangrove seedlings. CEHRD had earlier established Community Mangrove Restoration Vanguard in Rumuorlumeni community, carried out a training session on potting and nursing of propagules.

The practical session enabled the Vanguard to practicalize the knowledge gained during the training, understand better the different types of propagules and how they are being nursed; gain robust understanding on the effects of the various water sources to be used during the nursing process.
The Rumuorlumeni Community Mangrove Restoration Vanguard, planted the 1500 propagules in the Mangrove Nursery Site established by CEHRD with CEHRD’s team, Dr. Tammy Cookey, Florence supervising the entire process.

The Vanguard expressed joy and committed to improve on knowledge gained by planting more propagules, thereby increasing the number of propagules to be nursed in the Mangrove Nursery Site.

The 1500 propagules planted in Rumuorlumeni makes it 3000 propagules CEHRD has planted in its goal to restoring mangrove forest in the Niger Delta. Recall that CEHRD had planted 1500 Propagules in Kono Community, Khana LGA, Rivers State.
