CEHRD Honours Fomer Boss For Decade of Successful Leadership in Niger Delta, Inducts Prof. Zabbey To Ken Saro-Wiwa Hall of Fame

The Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) has HONOURED Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey for his decade of successful leadership and achievements in the Niger Delta.

The recognition came during CEHRD’s courtesy visit to the Hydrocarbon Protection and Remediation Project Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of CEHRD, the chairperson, Board of Directors, Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD), Chief Constance Meju recounted the achievements of Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey while in CEHRD.

Chief Meju revealed that CEHRD has been a third-party eye to HYPREP’s activities over the years and has maintained such position towards ensuring a sustainable development of the Niger Delta.

The CEHRD’s Board of Directors Chair, while noting the remarkable achievements of HYPREP in the last three years, urged the Project Coordinator to continue to focus on developing Ogoni, stating that the success achieved in Ogoni will serve as an example in Niger Delta. She affirmed that CEHRD is proud of Zabbey’s achievements at HYPREP.

The organization presented a distinguished leadership award to the HYPREP COORDINATOR in recognition of his exceptional leadership qualities.

The Project Coordinator of HYPREP, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, while receiving the award, appreciated CEHRD for the August visit and for the recognition.

Prof. Zabbey, while recounting the successes HYPREP has achieved over the three years of his leadership, stated that the Centre of Excellence implemented by HYPREP is over 90% completed, 46 water facilities built in 46 communities across Ogoni with more to be added, the establishment of Ogoni Power Station, which serves as a sustainability strategy, is near completion, and more.

The HYPREP PC stated that HYPREP will use the work in Ogoni as a template for what should be obtainable across the Niger Delta region.

The high point of the visit is the induction of Professor Nenibarini Zabbey into the Ken Saro-Wiwa Hall of Fame in CEHRD.
