CEHRD IN LIMELIGHT AS REPUBLIC MEDIA ORGANIZATION SHADES IMPACT IN OGONI

The coordinator, Centre For Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) has recounted CEHRD’s impact in ogoni during an interview session with Wale Lawal, Editor in chief of the Republic media organisation.

During the interview which examined the life and times of Ken Saro-Wiwa and CEHRD’s impact in Ogoni, Dr. Nabie stated that CEHRD was the catalyst that brought about the compensation of Bodo city, Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria and the on going remediation process in the community.

CEHRD over two decades has impacted more than Five Hundred thousand persons directly and over one million persons indirectly in Ogoni through capacity trainings, scholarships, empowerment, skill acquisitions, and more.

CEHRD has also protected the rights of persons especially women and girls in Ogoni through its awareness creation on Gender-Based Violence, Violence Against Person Prohibition Act, Climate and Environmental Sensitization, Civil Education.

CEHRD has further established school clubs, fed more the five thousand school children, provided medical facilities in six schools through the establishment of sick bay, provided water systems, built schools and empowered students with various capacity building skills.

It is noteworthy to state CEHRD has contributed to the development of Ogoni and its people.
