Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development, (#cehrd) on May 17, 2022 trains Senior Secondary School Students of Community Secondary School, Botem in Tai Local Government Arear in Rivers State, Nigeria on the Provisions of Rivers State Violence Against Persons (Prohibitions) [VAPP] Law.
The students were taught on State crimes as covered by the #riversstatevapplaw; these crimes include but not limited to rape, spousal abuse, emotional, psychological and verbal abuse, Inflicting physical violence, coercion, forced isolation or separation from family or friends, etc.
The students and school expressed joy over the training and appreciated #cehrd for bringing such a magnitude training to their school. The aim of the training is to arm secondary school students in Rivers State, Nigeria adequate knowledge of the #riversstatevapplaw and also the ways to which they can report such crimes to the appropriate institutions.
The activity is a continuation of #cehrd’s project on “Enhancing Prevention and Response to Gender Based Violence (#GBV) in Rivers State” supported by #EuropeanUnion.
#cehrd is glad to know that its project is affecting lives positively. #cehrd appreciates European Commission for the support.
