One Day Dialogue Meeting on Political Mentorship for WIGN members in Bayelsa State

As a follow up to the Dialogue Meeting on Political Mentorship for Women in Governance Network (WIGN) held on Thursday 20 February 2020 in Rivers State, CEHRD organised a One Day Dialogue Meeting on Political Mentorship for WIGN members in Bayelsa State. In attendance were representatives from WIGN, NGOs,Media and political parties in Bayelsa State.  CEHRD through this mentorship programme aims at changing negative narratives holding most women from actively participating at different levels in the politic system, promote women participation in good governance, empower women who will become active participants in politics and create workable strategies for political mentorship for WIGN and grassroot women in Rivers and Bayelsa States. This is part of activities under the framework for inclusive self-reliance and equal rights in the Niger delta, a project supported by the embassy of the kingdom of the Netherlands, Abuja. We look forward to follow up with key political parties on the implementation of women mentorship structures in their parties, beginning from the communities, wards, LGAs, and state levels. The WIGN is a platform designed by CEHRD to bring together women in politics and promote their inclusion and participation in politics. The network encourages women to support each other in politics, irrespective of parties’ affiliations.
